It is easy to believe how quickly people can disappear if they want to. In this modern world that is governed by technology, is it now easier than ever to change your name, your appearance and your history. When a person disappears it can cause frustration and anger, and you may feel like you have exhausted every avenue available to you in trying to find them. However, if you have not yet hired a private detective, then you have not tried all of your options and there is still hope.
There are a large variety of reasons that someone may need to find another person. There are situations where a loved one leaves home and seems to just fall off of the face of the earth. This could be a child or a loved one, or even someone that is a business partner. Another common reason that people use private detectives to find a missing person is in the situation where they are trying to pursue a legal case. Maybe they need that person to help them support their case, or perhaps they are trying to serve them with legal papers. Adoption is also a big area for private detectives. There are still many people out there that were part of an adoption that would like to find their birth parents or their birth child, and the expertise of a professional detective service like BrightStar Investigations can help them find some resolution to all of their questions.
A private investigator can often complete the search for a missing person in a fraction of the time that it would take a regular person to begin to look for someone. They conduct a multi-tiered search that involves web sites, public records, social media sites and search engines to look for any trace of a person, and then they wheedle down the details until they are completely certain that they know that person’s current location.
Search engines are often a great place to start when you are trying to locate a lost person. Sometimes even entering a name and phone number can start to point you in the right direction. Searching this way can also feel overwhelming when you have thousands of search results pop up over a search for one name or phone number. Thankfully a private detective has ways to quickly ruling out people that could not possibly be who you are looking for.
Most adults of all ages have some kind of social networking presence. Whether they are on Facebook, Instagram, twitter, or all of the above; if they have any kind of online presence then they have left a trail of breadcrumbs that a private detective will know how to follow. They can often use that information to cross reference with other public records in order to find someone.
Public records are an excellent way to find someone, especially if you have their social security number. This allows them to track what their last known address was and the address of their employer.
If you are in search of a new home, then you likely have a wish list of all of the features and
amenities that your dream home will have. Perhaps you want it to have a big backyard, or at least two bathrooms. Maybe your perfect home comes with a three car garage and a finished basement where the kids can play and have sleepovers. Out of all of the thousands of features that a potential home could have, we’ll bet there is a 100% chance that the one thing that every home shopper has one their list is that they want a home that will be safe to live in. No one wants to purchase a home that has a crumbling foundation, or a roof that is about to fall in, and most of all, there is without a doubt not one single person that will willingly move into a home that is filled with toxic gas that will slowly make them sick as they continue to breath in the air in their home over time… right?
What if I told you that one out of every 15 homes in the United States has elevated levels of toxic gas that is proven to cause lung cancer? Would you worry that your own home might be part of that statistic? Radon gas is a radioactive gas that is also completely odorless and colorless, and it is the second highest instigator of lung cancer in the country. Radon gas exists in low levels all across the United States, but over time it can seep into home and build up in areas like basements that do not have regular air flow or air replacement systems. Radon gas does not discriminate between older home and newer homes, and it can just as easily be found in a new build versus a long standing building. And worst of all, there is no requirement for a homeowner to test for radon and disclose those results to a potential new owner during the process of selling a house. That means that the responsibility to ask about radon testing and radon mitigation services lies almost completely with the home buyer.
The best news that we can give to you is that even though radon is hazardous to your health, there are ways for you to reduce the levels of it in your home and protect your loved ones. Radon Reduction Services can be installed in areas that have high radon levels to help keep the levels of this harmful gas low enough that they will not impact your lives. Radon is created naturally, so there is no way to completely eliminate it from the environment, but there are companies out there such as SWAT Environmental that can help make sure that accurate testing is done to determine if your home poses a threat to your family and help you to create a plan to reduce the radon levels and keep them low in the future. When it comes to your dream home, shouldn’t the safety of your family the number one feature?
If you are considering having the windows replaced in your home but you are not quite sure it is the right time, then you may not have considered all of the benefits that go along with new windows. Here are the top 9 reasons to consider new windows:
- Prevent air and water leaks. When your windows are installed, they have a seal around them that prevents water and air from getting from the outside of the house to the inside of the house. One of the first things to go on an old window is the seal. This can put your home at risk for expensive and time consuming water damage repairs.
- Easier to maintain. Fiberglass windows are making a huge surge in the market right now and one of the best things about them is that they are virtually maintenance free. They do not require any of the sanding, staining, or treating that wood frames need in order to stay nice. They are also paintable, so they can become part of the design scheme of any room and they can be easily changed without having to replace the entire window. Even if you decide on a window type other than fiberglass, the newer styles are going to be easer to maintain and much easier to clean.
- Noise blocking. Newer windows are better insulated and they have much better noise blocking capabilities. You will sleep better and enjoy your time inside your home more when you have more control over how much noise off the street is coming into your home.
- More panes. Single pane windows are a thing of the past. Modern windows are two to three panes and they are much stronger and sturdier than the old single pane windows. That is why you see more new homes with much larger windows than older homes.
- Keeps your furniture from fading as fast. The added protection of more insulation in your window panes also means that your belongings have an added layer of protection in your home. New homes will prolong the life of your carpet, floors and furniture, and even the paint!
- Saves money. Even though you have to fork over the upfront cost of new windows, you will find that they save you money in the long run. New windows are more energy efficient so your heating and cooling systems do not have to work as hard to maintain a constant temperature inside the home. You lose less heat and air conditioning out the windows and keep it inside where you want it.
- Increases home value – New modern windows are going to increase the resell value on a home. Especially when you have new windows like fiberglass windows, which have a lifespan of more than 50 years.
- Increases curb appeal – New windows simply look nicer. They are going to help improve the appearance of your home from both the outside and the inside. They are easy to pair with pretty much any decorating style so they work well for whoever is living in that home.
Choosing a jewelry store to buy your engagement ring from can be a daunting task. After all, an engagement ring is a symbol of a lasting and lifelong commitment that you are willing to make with another person, and you want the ring that you select as a symbol of that to reflect that sentiment. However, you also want to pay a reasonable price and not feel bullied into increasing your budget in order to get that perfect ring. Shoppers are also becoming more conscientious and concerned with purchasing a diamond that has been responsibly sourced so that they can feel good about showing it off to their friends and family. There are not many occasions in a person’s life when they will find themselves in a jewelry store, so many average joe’s have little to no experience with selecting a store that is going to give them all of the things that they want, namely price, selection, service, and conscientious products. So what can you do when you are looking for a jeweler to purchase your engagement ring from? Simply follow these steps:
- Look for a jeweler that has credentials. The credentials should be from a reliable source, such as the GIA Institute (Gemological Institute of America.) The GIA’s primary goal is to help protect the people that buy and sell gemstones by creating a set of standards that are used all across the world to evaluate the quality of a gemstone or diamond. It is very easy to look up a jeweler to see if they have been certified by the GIA.
- Ask if the jeweler offers what you are looking for. Do you want to create your own engagement ring from a selection of loose diamonds? Or perhaps you would prefer to select from a wide variety of rings that are already in their setting and adjust it from there? Are diamonds the way you want to go, or are you interested in adding other gemstones to your ring? Think about what your own preferences are before you go in to speak with a jeweler. Ask them what they specialize in and then decide if you want to shop there further. Most shops will offer a little bit of everything, but if you are leaning strongly in one direction then you should work with someone that has a wide selection of what you are looking for.
- Find someone that is established. Only work with established jewelers. You want to make sure that if you are purchasing a ring with a warranty and a service plan that they are going to be around in five or ten years when you need to bring your ring in for repairs and cleaning.
- Look for knowledgeable jewelers. Does a jeweler take the time to review the 4 C’s with you and educate you about the diamonds that they are looking for? Are they pleasant to work with or do they act like pushy sales people? Purchasing a diamond is a big deal, so you want to make sure that you trust the information that the jeweler is giving you.
Modern technology continues to shape and affect the way that regular people live their lives. One of the areas that technology is beginning to have an increasing influence on is inside our homes in the form of home automation systems. Home automation is a rather broad umbrella and it can cover a variety of different types of automations, but in a nutshell, home automation is the ability to access systems and devices that are in your home from a mobile device and from any location in the world. There are a variety of different types of home automation; some of them only require a small upload to your mobile device, whereas others require extensive construction in your home in order to make the automation compatible.
One of the more common areas that home automation systems have become prevalent is in the area of home security systems. Now many home security systems give you the ability to monitor your home from afar, as well as turn your alarm system on and off as needed. However, home automation systems are capable of doing so much more in the home! They can not only control your home security alarm system, but they can also be used to control your climate settings (turning the heat up or down) the landscape settings through the sprinklers, and even your lighting system and other appliances in your home. It is truly remarkable how widespread home automation can be if you let it. You even have the ability to lock and unlock your windows and doors from a remote location (you will never have to worry about losing your house keys every again!)
When you look at all of the different ways that your home can be brought online with automation, it almost sounds like a house out of a futuristic Sci-Fi movie, but these abilities are all very real and attainable. You may even be using home automation in your own home without realizing it. Have you ever forgot to set your DVR to record your favorite show at home, and then logged in from work to do it? That is home automation. Have you ever set a timer on your lights while you are out of town? That is also home automation. What about setting a timer on your thermostat so that it starts to heat up your cold home just slightly before you arrive home from work? You guessed it: home automation.
The characteristic that is making home automation even more cutting edge is that now all of these automation services do not have to be set from inside your home. Instead, these settings can all be made to be accessible from any internet connected or mobile device. If you want to set up an alert when your front door lock is activated to track when your child ones home from school, then you can do so. With home automation, you can have the control of all of the all of the features of your home at your fingertips.
Colorado is known for its gorgeous mountain landscapes and incredible skiing, but have you ever witnessed a Colorado summer? Summertime in Colorado has some of the best sunsets you will ever see, some of the brightest stars…. And some of the most torrential rainstorms and hailstorms that you will ever experience! It is no wonder that many of the rooftops in Colorado are repaired on an annual basis. Sometimes the roofers have to scramble to keep up with all of the hail damage repair requests that come their way in the late summer. If you are a homeowner in Colorado, one of the best things that you can do for your roof is learn how to spot and diagnose hail damage on your roofing.
Being able to diagnose hail damage on your roofing is important for every homeowner because it will help make sure that you are having damaged spots repaired quickly. This can help to prevent water leaks from starting and creating even bigger problems on the interior of your home. It will also prolong the life of your roof by keeping up with any minor repairs that are needed before they become much larger and more expensive issues.
Hail damage is going to look different depending on the types of roofing shingles that you have on your home, but the most common shingle in this area is the standard asphalt shingle, so let’s take a closer look at how to spot hail damage on this roof type. Asphalt shingles are made out of… you guessed it: asphalt! The asphalt is reinforced with fiberglass or some other kind of organic material to create a sturdy shingle. When you are looking for signs of hail damage on asphalt shingles, you want to look for areas that look darker, almost like a bruise on the shingle. The area is most likely going to have a roundish appearance and could possibly even have a slight indentation to it. If you press on the bruise, it may give in a little more than the area surrounding it. These are all signs that you have some hail damage in that area. Sometimes a hail mark may be too small to create a soft spot, but the shingle is still going to need to be replaced in order to keep the damage from spreading.
These types of localized issues may only affect one of two of your shingles, or you may be in need of some major roof repair work. If you only see a small area with damage, then if you feel comfortable doing the work yourself, you can pry up the nails and replace the damaged shingle with a new one. If you feel like the damage is more widespread, then having a professional roofer complete the roof repairs might be more cost effective and also much quicker for you. Either way, you should make it a point to inspect your roof at least once a year for any signs of hail damage as well as torn or missing shingles.
If you find yourself in a situation where you need a criminal defense lawyer, likely the first thing on your mind is finding someone that is available immediately. When time is of the essence and you are in immediate need of representation, it can feel like it is an impossible time to try to research different lawyers in order to find the best one for you and for your situation, but there are still a few filtering questions that you should ask every potential lawyer before you decide to hire them.
- Look for experienced lawyers in the field of criminal defense. You want to make sure that you are getting the best possible representation that you can, and that means making sure that the person that you are hiring to represent you is familiar with all of that state’s particular laws and systems, and that they have successfully defended clients in the past. Choosing to pay to hire a criminal defense lawyer that does not have any past experiences or successes to their name is not going to be any more beneficial than using a public defender for free, so make sure that you find someone with experience to give your hard earned money to.
- Ask to meet the lawyer in person. There is a lot of value in meeting a potential lawyer face to face before you hire them. You can observe them in their “natural habitat” and find out more about how they are going to treat you and your case if you hire them. If they are constantly interrupting your meeting by taking phone calls or emails or allowing their assistant to interrupt the meeting before you ever hire them, then you should expect that same treatment from them when they start working for you. If they speak disparagingly about past clients or divulge private information about others, then you should have no reason to assume they will not do the same thing to you. During the first interview, they should be attentive and should review all of the basics of your case with you, and then offer you their opinion on what the best next course of action will be in your case. Only once they have done all of that should they start to talk about contracts or fees and payment. If you feel like you are being given the hard sales pitch verses any real legal advice, then you may want to look somewhere else.
- Ask who exactly in the office will be representing you and if you can also meet them. It is also a good idea to ask who you will be in contact with if you have questions and how long you should expect them to take to get back to you. You also should not feel shy about asking blunt questions about how their fees work and what their retainer fee will be (if they have one.) If you have not yet experienced what it is like to ride an electric bike, let me tell you that you are in for a treat! Ebikes have all of the best features of a regular bicycle combined with scooter and are really a lot of fun to ride around town. There are so many great benefits to owning a Ebike, but here are the ones that you should take into account if you are considering investing in an Ebike of your very own:
- Get to work sweat free. Did you know that most car trips that people take, including commuting to work are under 5 miles? When you live that close to work, it is a great opportunity to ride your bike into work, but there can be drawbacks to this if you are using a regular bike. Especially when you are first starting out commuting and are a little out of shape, you will most likely show up to work soaked in sweat every morning. Some people get around this by bringing a change of clothes, but that is not always practical and it is also just a pain. If you commute using an electric bike instead, then you have the option to stop pedaling when you start to feel exerted. Or in my case, I stop pedaling when I get within a mile of work so that I have time to cool down before I have to walk into work. This way you can avoid having to pack in extra clothing and get into work early enough to have time to change.
- Avoid the traffic. Do you ever jealously watch the morning cyclist zoom past all of the traffic in the morning while you sit at a red light? Well now you can be part of that team! With an Ebike, you do not have to be in peak physical shape to ride into work and to beat all of the traffic.
- Get the best parking spot. Since an Ebike is classified the same as a regular bike, it allows you to have more flexibility when it comes to parking as navigation. You can legally ride on sidewalks and bike lands and park it and lock it up anywhere that you would a normal bike. Skip trolling down the crowded parking garages and just go straight to the bike racks at the front of the building!
- Better than coffee. When your heart rate increases and you exercise, endorphins and adrenaline is released into your body. Endorphins give you a feeling of euphoria and adrenaline wakes you up. So you can skip your morning cup of Joe and let your body wake itself up in the morning. The natural stimulants that you get from a little morning commute will have you arriving to work awake and in a great mood, what a great way to start the day!

Many parents are anxious about taking their child to the dentist for the first time. This is completely understandable considering most adults tend to have a fear of going to the dentist, and they want to make sure that their children do not carry that fear with them into their own first visit. Fortunately there are many kids dentist that specialize in the treatment of young adults and children. These practices are dedicated to making the first experience at the dentist a good one, as well as every visit after that.
People often assume that a pediatric dentist is just a regular dentist that has dedicated their practice to the treatment of children. However, in order for a dentist to be a pediatric dentist, they must have had at least two years of additional training in addition to their basic dental education. This additional education gives them the tools that they will need in order give proper care to an individual that has developing teeth. It also helps them to understand and help manage children’s behavior and helps them to educate the parents on the proper care of baby’s teeth in between dental cleanings.
According to the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, you should begin taking your child to the dentist around their first birthday. Your child’s very first visit to the dentist will likely be very uneventful and very short. This first visit is intended primarily to familiarize your child with the idea of sitting in the dentist’s chair and for them to meet the actual dentist in person. Sometimes the dentist may ask you as the parent to sit in the dentist chair and hold the child in your lap to help make them feel more comfortable. Depending on the comfort level of your child, they will then perform a quick examination of any teeth they have at the point. This is a cursory check, and not intended to be the full teeth cleaning that we are used to receiving as adults. If the pediatric dentist sees any decay or other issues that raise a red flag, they may ask you to come back sooner than normal so that they can look at the teeth more thoroughly, and they will create a treatment plan for you and your child to begin addressing those issues at home.
Another reason that early dental visits for children are so important is because this can be a great opportunity to ask your dentist any questions that you have about your child’s teeth. You can review what kind of oral hygiene habits you should be establishing at home and how to address any bad habits such as thumb sucking or lip sucking. This can be a great opportunity to talk about teething in your child, or for them to address any issues they saw relating to the child’s nutritional habits.
Your pediatric dentist should be skilled at making a visit to the dentist fun and relaxing. Their goal is to make going to the dentist as least stressful for you and your family as possible.
One of the best things that you can do for your new baby is to make sure that you are doing everything you can to ensure that they are healthy and happy, and this should of course include taking care of their teeth and gums. If you make sure to take the extra steps when they are young to protect their teeth that added care can actually affect your child’s dental health for years to come. There are some very simple things that you can do in addition to regular visits to the family dentist in order to start your baby off right in life and help them to build strong dental hygiene habits.
Did you know that when a baby is born, they already have their baby teeth? All 20 of their primary teeth are already there and waiting, just below the gum line when your baby is born. This is why it is important to start promoting healthy teeth and gums immediately, even though the first tooth may not begin to make an appearance through the gum line until they are at least six months old.
You can begin your baby’s dental regimen just a few days after they are born. At this point of course there will not be any teeth present, but you can use a moist piece of gauze or a soft washcloth to wipe your baby’s gums. This will help remove any bacteria in the mouth that starts the process of decay.
As soon as your baby starts teething, this is they time to start encouraging the habit of brushing their teeth every day. At first it may be easier to start with a child size toothbrush and no toothpaste at all until you familiarize them with the habit. Many parents make it a part of their child’s bedtime routine. When you can see teeth that are clearly above the gum line, make sure that you are getting a few good brushes in yourself, but allow your child to hold their toothbrush as well.
Many parents ask when they should start adding toothpaste to their children’s toothbrushes. Pediatric dentists recommend that if your child is under 3 years old that it is okay to begin adding a tinny dab of fluoride toothpaste to their tooth brush. This should be a spot no bigger than a grain of rice. As your child ages, from 3 to 6 years old, you can increase the amount of toothpaste to the size of a pea.
Dentists will remind you that you should also start flossing in between their teeth as soon as they start to have teeth that are touching. This can be a little trickier than encouraging your child to brush their teeth twice a day, so if you find that you are having trouble getting your little one to sit still long enough for a flossing session, talk to your dentist to see what they can recommend in order to make the process a little more fun for you child.
Choosing a wedding photographer is one of the most important tasks that you will have to complete when you are planning your wedding. You may agonize over your dress, and how to pick the right DJ, and what food you think would be the best to eat on your big special day – but remember that the photographer is the one that is going to capture and help you to keep all of those memories. Without a good wedding photographer that can adequately show your emotion in a photo, all you will have left after the wedding is over, and after month and months of planning, is a headache.
In order to make sure that you are getting the right wedding photographer for you, follow some of these simple steps:
Ask for referrals. There is an unspoken pressure on brides to have a completely unique wedding that uses all different vendors and venues than their friends used for their wedding. It is not clear when or how this started, but for some reason women do not like to ask their friends for referrals, which means that they are wasting a precious resource. If you love the way your friend’s wedding photos came out, then ask them who they used for their photography. It will not hurt to at least speak to the photographer, even if you decide not to use them or if they are unavailable for that date. That wedding photographer may not be available but they can perhaps give you some direction on other wedding photographers in the area that have similar styles of shooting and similar price points.
That brings us to the second basic point: only use a photographer that shoots in a style that you like. Some photographers specialize in outdoor wedding photography while some prefer to do elaborate indoor settings. There are as many different ways to shoot a wedding as there are weddings, so no matter what you are going to find someone that has a personal style that speaks to you. You can find their personal style a couple of different ways: Look at the work from past weddings. Each wedding will have its own flavor and style, so make sure to take a look at at least a few different weddings to get a feel for their shooting style. Read about the photographer on their website. Usually they will list something akin to a mission statement and talk about what drives them or what thrills them. While similar interests will not guarantee that they are a good photographer, if you hire someone that has a similar outlook on life and on weddings that you do, then at least you know that you will be on the same page on the day of your wedding.
While finding a good wedding photographer is important, it does not have to be stressful. Give yourself time to sort through different photographers that are in your area. Do not overwhelm yourself with options and you will find the perfect photographer for your wedding.
