Different types of cardio classes

Whether you are an exercise junky or looking for your first fitness class, before you set foot before the instructor, you need to know what you are getting into and if you can handle it. This is because choosing a group exercise class can seem overwhelming. There are many different class formats that have developed and evolved recently. Additionally, class offerings vary among fitness facilities. Most classes fall into one of the following four categories: cardiorespiratory, strength, mind/body, or specialty. Regardless of the type, all exercise classes are designed to be fun and challenging in a positive social environment.

Cardio classes generally focus on getting the heart rate up. They usually start with a light aerobic warm-up and some stretching before they progress into moderate- or high-intensity exercise for the majority of the class. There are six popular types of cardio which include:

  • Low Intensity, Long Duration: These classes are the least demanding form of aerobic training. They are slow, easy, and continuous. You should be able to converse comfortably while doing it. These types of classes are good for people just getting started with cardio work. They are good for fat loss, especially in obese people.
  • Medium Intensity, Medium Duration: These classes are a bit more difficult and therefore, it cannot be done for as long. The aerobic portion usually lasts between 20 to 40 minutes. They are the next step up from the low-intensity work and can be used for fat loss and for increasing aerobic capacity. When you take one of these classes, you will experience heavy breathing. However, you will not be so out of breath that you will need to stop
  • High Intensity, Short Duration: This is the most demanding form of training. It is done for between 5 to 20 minutes, depending on fitness level and intensity.
  • Aerobic Interval Training: Classes do not have to be all one level. The instructor can vary it so that you are doing a period of moderate to high-intensity aerobic work, which alternates with a period of rest that includes low-intensity work. This is repeated multiple times. The intervals and intensities can be changed based on your fitness level. The key is variation while not working so hard that you must stop completely.
  • Anaerobic Interval Training: This type of training involves going hard for short periods of time then resting for equal or longer periods of time. They are not beginners as you could reach your maximum heart rate.
  • Circuit training: This is basically aerobic weight training. Stations are set up with a variety of exercises that work the entire body. Light weights are used and you will do each exercise continuously for a specified time interval. The advantage of this is that you are working the entire body, rather than just your legs.

These classes can be further described as beginner, intermediate or advanced. If a class does not designate a level, intermediate is assumed. Classes that fall into this category include step and hi-lo floor aerobics, as well as kickboxing classes and indoor cycling.

Mineral rights and fracking

Hydraulic fracturing which is also called fracking, fracing, and hydro-fracking has become the preferred method to unlock valuable hydrocarbons from tight underground rock formations. It requires between 5-10 acres of space at the well location, as well as multiple water tanks and/or storage ponds, along with millions of gallons of water, millions of pounds of sand and, perhaps what makes this process the most controversial, additives in the form of chemicals that help to make the process more efficient and effective.

The fracturing technique that is most used today was developed in the 1990′s and has lowered completion costs by more than 75%. The two primary ingredients used for this process are water and sand.  If you have ever had a rock hit your windshield, the spider webbing that it causes across your windshield is an acceptable comparison to what an underground fracture looks like.  The spidering effect is similar to what happens within the shale rock formation during the process.

If you are selling mineral rights you may be worried about fracking contaminants or chemicals due to misinformation.  The primary concern revolves around whether or not this process taints freshwater sources used for human consumption. However, at this point, fracking is the only method that can be used to economically extract hydrocarbons from tight, low-permeability shale formations until a safer or more efficient way is developed.

While there is no oil & gas production in the state, Vermont, along with France and Bulgaria have entirely banned the practice. In addition, New York and Quebec have placed moratoriums on fracking until further study can be completed.

Regardless of your stance on the practice or whether you have mineral rights for sale, it cannot be denied that domestic production of oil and natural gas has dramatically increased since the beginning of the new century. This is a direct result of the combination of hydraulic fracturing and horizontal drilling. Due to increasing public pressure, the fracking process will likely become even more streamlined through improved technology and better additives.

The numbers show that production of U.S. Oil surpassed seven million barrels per day at the end of 2012. This was the first time this occurred since 1993. This further reduces the demand for foreign oil and gas. In addition, natural gas is an excellent alternative fuel due to its clean burning properties and the copious amounts that can be found within US shale reservoirs.

When it comes to mineral rights, landowners do not have much say over how a well is completed. That aspect has historically been left to the states and it will likely remain so for the near future.  There are, however, a few things landowners should consider including if a well can be drilled on or near the property and if a lease has been signed, what it allows for. Additionally, you need to find out if the lease allows the oil company to access and use fresh water sources as most do.

How to hire a commercial roofer

Hiring commercial roofers is different than hiring someone to come and fix or install a new roof at your home. For one thing, it is way more expensive and involved because it is the first line of defense the businesses in your building have against Mother Nature. Additionally, instead of vetting a few recommended companies, you have to solicit bids and you may not be the only one in on the decision.

Your best bet may be to hire a consultant from the Roof Consultants Institute to help determine what repairs your building needs. He or she can also ensure the job is done properly. Retaining a consultant can be a valuable investment, especially for large, complicated jobs.

Whether you choose to use a consultant or not, the commercial roofing company you select should be a member in good standing of one of the various professional organizations including either the RCI as mentioned above or the National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA). This shows that they are dedicated to learning and implementing the best practices.

You can solicit bids using your own informal process or NRCA’s Roofing Contractor Qualification Form1. Either way, you need to be sure they can answer questions in regards to the specifications of the job and they should also be able to address the safety concerns it involves.

This includes a project schedule and Site utilization diagram, detailed manufacturer specifications and testing information, and a severe weather plan. In addition, the bid should include verification of a designated qualified safety representative, compliance with all Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) requirements, and hot work precautions.

While it may be tempting to go with the lowest bidder, you should have a clear understanding of the capabilities of each potential contractor, and the contractors must fully understand the parameters of the job. Furthermore, when reviewing bids, be sure the contractors are experienced, licensed and bonded. They should each have a federal tax identification number as well as a permanent address. Be sure to ask how long each has been in business and the years of combined experience the team has.

Always check references, and the Better Business Bureau to ensure all bidders are in good standing. You can ask to see similar completed roofing jobs as well as one that is currently in process. Seeing the crew in action gives you a chance to assess their workmanship, the way they keep a job site, and their attitudes. In addition, you should ask for copies of all insurance certificates, including liability and workers’ compensation and all warranties from both the commercial roofers and the manufacturer, as well.

The job should be done during optimal weather. Therefore, do not expect them to work during hurricane season or when it snows.  In addition, some roofers require a certain temperature for proper installation, so the scheduling must take expected and unexpected weather of the season into account.

Finding the right commercial roofer for your project can be time-consuming. However, it is well worth the effort to avoid faulty installations.

CSRs and casualty insurance software

CSRs or customer service representative are the first people that clients and potential customers have contact with when they call your company.  Therefore, they need to be competent, detailed, and friendly. In order to improve their abilities to obtain new business and keep current customers, you should look into incorporating insurance agency software solutions into the system you are currently using.

There are many different types of insurance solutions. Most can benefit your CSRs. First and foremost, they help to supply the data necessary to answer customer’s questions. The basic information about the person who has called will be pre-populated and by getting answers to a few short questions they can offer a variety of different insurance scenarios that best fit the consumer’s needs.

Another way that agency software can assist the customer service representatives at your company is by giving them access to critical information that allows them to self-correct as needed. In addition, this software enables a healthy competitive environment through the measurement of negative trends and inefficiencies. Furthermore, by measuring these trends, it can also lead to positive growth and efficiency as well as self-realization and goal attainment which energizes your entire staff.

However, before you implement these changes, there are a number of steps you need to take so that shock and confusion do not overtake your business and these positive improvements are taken negatively.

The first thing you should do is offer a workshop or class to educate your customer service representatives on the new software. Not only should they learn to use it, they should be able to ask questions, as well.

Next, be sure to roll out the new software slowly. You may want to implement a pilot program that allows your customer service representatives to get accustomed to the new software before it is rolled out completely. Once it is fully operational, work with them to set measurable and meaningful goals.

Since not many people like change and most bristle against it, remember to keep their egos in mind as you make these changes. Remind them that talented customer service representatives want to help. You should also stress how this software will improve on their expertise and can be used to further support the customer purchase. One example you can offer is that when an insurance product meets both customer needs as well as their budget it will hold more appeal.

If you are looking to incorporate new software into your insurance company, be sure to check out AVYST. They have the experience to customize their cloud-based systems into what you need to both assist your customer service representatives, as well as your customers. Be sure

Cooking tips for college apartments

Up until now, either mom made your food, or you went to the college cafeteria. However, if you have recently moved out of the dorms and into a college apartment, this may be the first time that you have to cook for yourself.

While many a student has survived on Ramen noodles, you do not have to. Here are some tips so that you do not end up having Pop-Tarts for dinner, again.

First and foremost, you need to get with your roommates. Not only can you split the cooking duties so that everyone gets a turn, you can also split the cost of pots, pans, and other utensils. You can also go in for groceries together, as well. This will not only decrease the amount of money you spend at the supermarket, it will also make it so that you are not throwing away spoiled milk.

Additionally, when you and your roommates work together in the kitchen, you will become closer and even become friends if you were not already. Furthermore, you will be cooking for more than one person. This will make it easier because you will not have to worry about scaling down the recipe to make the meal just for yourself.

If you live in the Thatcher Apartments, then you will probably have people over to eat often. Therefore, you should find some basic recipes with few steps and even fewer ingredients when first starting to cook. No worries if you burn your first few meals, this apartment complex is close to many restaurants, as well.

While the restaurants that are close to Eastern Arizona College Housing, do not get too reliant on them. The costs add up quickly and you will end up not having money for groceries or food if you go out for every meal. Furthermore, cooking at home is healthier than eating out, so you will save calories, salt, and sugar intake, as well.

This means that you can also take food with you to school. Leftovers often taste better the next day and you will be amazed at the amount of money you save by making your coffee at home instead of buying it on the go. Not only that, but you already know how to make sandwiches and other on-the-go foods.

Speaking of knowledge, probably the biggest thing that most college students need when cooking for themselves in their off-campus apartment for the first time is self-confidence. You need to know that even if it does not turn out right the first time, you can do this. If you were able to find the right place to live with the right people, then you can follow a recipe and make a meal.

You get yourself up every morning and get yourself to class. You do your own laundry and only had a few white things turn pink. You also help to keep your place clean. Cooking should not be that scary. Once you get good at basic stuff, then you can move on to the more complex. You got this.

Butane extractor concentrates

The use of BHO extractors and their resulting concentrates have increased in popularity. One of the biggest reasons for this is that they changeable and can, therefore, be used in a variety of ways. Additionally, and probably just as important is that they have amazing medicating properties. Furthermore, with the right equipment and know-how, you can make them at home.

For safety purposes, closed loop butane extractors are your best choice. These machines are big, airtight and made of stainless steel and therefore keep explosions and fires to a minimum. They also allow you to reuse the butane because it does not escape into the air. The main purpose of these extractors is to contain liquid solvents, as well as the pressures necessary to extract certain plant material.

Once the extraction is complete and the solvents have been evaporated off, the process is not complete. In order to finish it and remove any remaining solvent, the process is known as “purging” must be completed. Purging is done by putting your concentrate into an airtight chamber or vacuum oven. The air then needs to be pulled away then with a vacuum pump and thus ridding the concentrate of any leftover solvents trapped in it.

The temperature difference is what is believed to cause the different consistencies to occur. The most popular consistencies are known as shatter, wax, and honey. Shatter is created when purging is done at temperatures between 115 f – 120f. When you purge at temperatures between 120f – 140f, you get wax. This is also when the extractions begin to crystallize. Honey is the result of purging at the highest temperatures, between 140f – 190f.

The results can then be added to edibles, drinks, used as a topical solution or dabbed. Dabs are defined as a way of vaporizing the concentrate through contact with a hot surface.  Most often this surface is a nail or glass rod that has been heated beforehand with a handheld torch. Once it is vaporized, it is inhaled.

Since all of these products are a concentrated cannabis product, they provide a faster and more efficient delivery of THC into the body. Translation, you get higher faster. Additionally, the concentrate can have up to 90 percent of pure THC. This is in comparison to the type that is traditionally smoked which usually hovers at the 25% mark. Therefore, less product is used to get a stronger, better high.

Just be aware that the concentrates made through the use of a butane extractor will have some level of contaminants and impurities. Therefore, you need to follow the directions when making your own. If you are purchasing shatter, wax, or honey from a supplier, be sure to ask if it has been tested in an independent lab so that you know what the levels are in the product. While low levels have not been shown to cause problems, additional studies are needed to know the impact over time. However, for most, the benefits outweigh the risks, especially when it comes to chronic pain.

Benefits to the executive office

You do not need to go into the office, but you need an office. If working at home has not been the fulfilling dream you thought it would be because the laundry and other chores as well as your family get in the way and distract you or you are lonely, then it may be time to look for somewhere else to go.

Moreover, if you are trying to grow your business, then working at home is not practical. However, for a small business, traditional office space is usually too expensive and can require you to sign a lease that can last for years. Executive suites offer a more viable alternative that has many perks.

For less than half of the cost of regular office space, executive office suites give you an office of your own as well as a meeting or conference room where you can meet with clients, business partners, and others, as needed. This room is shared with other people that are in a similar situation as yours.

Not only that, but these shared offices often have swanky addresses that you could never even dream of affording on your own. These addresses offer you prestige and make you look accomplished, something your home address could never do. Also, due to the fact that you sign a short term lease, if your business grows or downsizes, you can add or remove space as needed.

Still not sold that this is the office space for you and your budding new business?! If you become part of an executive office, you do not need to buy furniture because it is already there. In addition, you also do not need to call and set up utilities or the internet and the cost for these is usually included in the rent. Sometimes, there will even be a computer there for you to use. Feel free to bring a plant and a picture of the family to spruce the place up a bit.

Other amenities that may be included in the price include coffee and kitchen supplies, as well as free shared printers. This not only reduces costs, this also frees up some of your time by taking care of the small details you have to tackle every day.

Furthermore, you also get to share a receptionist with the others in the suite. He or she will answer your phone and either take messages or direct the person to your voicemail. In addition, this person will sign for packages and greet any guests that may come for meetings and such. Moreover, there may be additional office staff that is available for free or on a pay-per-task basis.

Finally, you never know who you will meet when you are in a situation like this. Networking, especially when you are trying to grow a business, never hurt anyone. There are all types of executives that use the space; you could collaborate when it is appropriate. However, do not let these people be like your laundry and distract you when you need to work.

What to do before you call an emergency HVAC technician

If you are sitting in your home or office either sweating in the summer or freezing in the winter, there are a number of steps that you should take before you call an HVAC technician to see if your system needs repair.  Taking these steps will save you money on a wasted service call.

First, you need to determine when the air filter was last changed, if the new one was installed correctly, and if the filter that is installed is the right size and shape.  If the filter looks dirty, then it is time to replace it.  Be sure to take the old filter with you when you go to buy a new one.  There are dozens and dozens of filters sold at the local home improvement warehouse.  Each is a different size and shape.  If the filter noisily vibrates every time the unit kicks on, it is not installed correctly and needs to be adjusted.

The next thing that you need to do before you call the emergency HVAC number on the unit is to ensure that there is power being supplied to the unit.  If the building recently had electrical work done of if there was a power outage, the circuit breaker and/or the power switches for the unit may not have gone back on.  Even if there was no power interruption recently, you should check the switches and breakers anyway as this may be a sign of a bigger underlying issue.

If you still are not having any luck getting comfortable, find the vents in the room and see if there is anything that has been moved in front of them and/or is blocking the air from coming through them.  If there are no objects in front of them, shine a flashlight at the vent and see if you can see anything on the other side that may hinder air flow.  It is not uncommon for small animals to get trapped in the vents.

If it is winter time and your building’s heater runs on oil or propane, before you call a commercial HVAC technician, be sure to check and see how much, if any, is left in the tank.  If it is empty, call the supply company first and then call the HVAC tech out to bleed the line and look for any leaks that may have led to it being run dry.

If none of this works and you are still either freezing or melting, then it is time to call in a professional.  However, if you are in an office building or apartment complex, it is best to get in touch with either your landlord or the property management company prior to making a service call.  Not only will the tech need owner approval to work on the property, the owner or management company may have a service contract or history with a specific company that they prefer you work with.  Furthermore, it is also best to check your leasing agreement to see who is responsible for paying for HVAC repairs.

Different water purification systems

If your water smells, or you simply want to improve the quality of the water that you and your family use at home, then you may want to look into the different water purification systems that are available for installation.  Each works in a different way to remove contaminants from the water to make it healthier and tastier.   First and foremost, you need to have your water tested to find out what is in it, since many of the contaminants cannot be seen with the naked eye and only hydrogen sulfide can be smelled.  It is best to find an independent company to do the testing so you are not sold something you do not need.   Chances are, if you get your water from a public supply it is free of bacteria, however, there are times when the system that treats the water fails to do so.  In those instances, you will be informed to boil your water before using it to cook or before you drink it.  While boiling will remove harmful contaminants, it will also make the water taste flat. Adding one of the many water purification systems to your home will ensure that you and your family never have to worry again about what may be in the water.  Three of the most popular are reverse osmosis, distillation and ion exchange.  You can also add various filters to your water system.  There are mechanical filters, oxidizing and neutralizing filters.  Each is designed to get different things out of the water.  They can be used alone or together.   Reverse osmosis is when water is passed through a semi-permeable membrane.  It can remove up to 90% of impurities from the water.  However, it uses a large amount of water of which, up to 75% is discarded.  Therefore, it is best to install it for drinking and cooking, only, usually under the kitchen sink.   Another of the water purification systems that is available for your home is distillation.  This process cleans the water by turning it into steam.  It is a slow process that only produces one gallon of water for each five gallons that go through the process.  It may also use a considerable amount of electricity.   Finally, there is ion exchange.  This is also known as water softening.  Salt is used to remove calcium and magnesium from the water.  While it does not use as much water as reverse osmosis or distilling, however, it does not get rid of as much.  It will get rid of the film that seems to cover whatever the water touches and make your soap and detergent work better, as well.  In addition, it can also increase the life of your pipes and water heater.  It is recommended that those on a low salt diet not consume the water that goes through a water softener or the ion exchange process.   Regardless of which water purification system you choose for your home, be sure to have it professionally installed in order to avoid plumbing problems.

Why people get braces on their teeth

One of famed children’s author Dr. Seuss’ books was entitled The Tooth Book.  In it, he rhymes about the importance of teeth, who has them, where they can be found, and he also says that everyone should see a dentist in order to maintain a healthy mouth.  One of the things he doesn’t say is that the dentist may send his or her patients to a specialist known as an orthodontist if the dentist notices that the patient’s teeth are crooked or crowded.  The dentist will also send you to an orthodontist to correct both overbites as well as underbites, and to get an incorrect jaw position fixed and to have other disorders of the jaw joints corrected, as well.   Upon looking in your mouth at your teeth and at x-rays, the orthodontist may recommend braces in order to fix whatever is causing your malocclusion, or bad bite.  If you do not have braces placed on your teeth in order to fix the problems in your mouth, you could end up with tooth decay, gum disease, headaches, earaches, or speaking, biting or chewing problems. Braces are made of metal, ceramic or plastic and are bonded to the front of your teeth.  You can also get lingual or concealed braces and have the brackets attached to the back of your teeth, and are therefore hidden from view. All types of braces use wires to move the teeth to the desired position regardless of whether they are placed on the front or the back of the teeth.   If the wire or a bracket comes loose, make an appointment as soon as possible to have it fixed.  Also, if it feels as if the wires are poking you, you can ask for some wax to rub on them to alleviate the pain.  Try to keep your teeth as clean as possible while you have your braces on and be sure to brush and floss after every meal.  In addition, avoid eating chewy, sticky or gummy type foods, and popcorn as these can get caught in your braces and cause additional problems.   Some patients may be able to wear an aligner instead of having to have braces placed in their mouth.  An aligner is a clear, customized appliance that gets removed when you eat, brush and floss.  It gets changed approximately every two weeks and is most appropriate for adults with minor spacing issues.   Patients usually wear braces for anywhere from one to two years and will have to periodically see the orthodontist and have the wires tightened.  Once they are removed, most people have to wear a retainer, for another 12 to 24 months.  A retainer is a hard piece of plastic shaped like a mouthguard with metal wires.   Be sure to keep all appointments with both your orthodontist and your regular dentist.  Once all of the work is done in your mouth you will not only want to smile more often, you will be able to smile more beautifully and without any pain or problems.

How to pick the best window treatments for each window in your home

When it comes to covering the windows in your home, there are so many choices in window treatments, your head may just spin.  You need to decide whether you want blinds, curtains, shutters or drapes.  Then you have to decide what material your choice should be made from.  Finally, you have to decide on the color that the window treatment should be.  While style plays an important role because you do not want the décor the clash, it should not be your first thought, nor should it be your deciding factor.

First and foremost, you need to decide on how much privacy is needed in the rooms where you will be installing the new Hunter Douglas Blinds, shades, shutters or drapes.  Then you need to decide how much light should be able to enter the room in question.  These two questions help you to determine what window treatment would be best for that particular room and/or window.

For example, if you are looking for total darkness and privacy, then your best bet is to enquire about lined curtains.  If you are looking for privacy, but would like to let some light in during the day, then you can forego the lining.  However, the lining also helps to protect the curtains from sun damage and further insulates the room.

If curtains are not your thing, then another good option for maintaining privacy while still letting light in is that of either roller or cellular shades.  Cellular shades are honeycomb shaped and are also considered an excellent insulator.  Roller shades, on the other hand, are less expensive, but easy to install. Roller shades contain tiny perforations that allow light in while maintaining privacy.   Both are especially popular choices for bathrooms.  However, if you are hanging them on a window over a tub, you may want to splurge for a remote so that nobody slips or falls while trying to open or close them.

If you would like to be able to control both the amount of light as well as the amount of privacy, then the window treatments you should look at are blinds and shutters.  Both of these choices allow for near total darkness and near-total privacy when they are closed.  However, when they are opened to allow light in, they also limit the amount of privacy given to the room.

Blinds come in two major varieties, horizontal and vertical.  Regardless of which way you want the slats to go, you can then decide on the size of the slats.  They are usually controlled by strings, so this is not the best bet for anyone with small children or animals unless you splurge for a remote control.

Shutters are usually made of wood and are controlled by a rod that is placed in the middle of the slats.  They can be painted or stained to match the décor of the room and help to increase the resale value of your home because they look good from both the interior and exterior of your home.

How to go into business with a mineral company

If you live on a farm or if your home is on a large piece of property and is in an area that has been designated as a site of historic mineral development or if it is believed that the area can be a sight for potential mineral development, then it may be in your best interest to contact a mineral company.   Also, know as a royalty company, the business may be interested in exploring, excavating or mining under your property.  The mineral royalty company can buy or lease the right to do so while you maintain ownership of the land.  You will then get money both for the rights and royalty fees when the minerals are mined. A mineral is defined as coal, gemstone, ores of metal, salt, and other materials that come from the ground.  The definition changes from place to place and over time.  As a land owner, you own the rights to the air above your land and to whatever is below the land, as well.  However, if you do not know how to get the minerals above ground or will not do so, then you have the rights to and you may want to sell those rights to do so to someone who can and will.  Since local laws vary, be sure to check those before signing anything.   While this money can come in handy when paying bills or going on vacation, be aware that you have to live with the work being done on the land.  However, you can have it written into the contract that some of the land is not allowed to be touched.  In addition, you can stipulate guidelines to protect yourself, your crops and livestock, and your home while the area is excavated or mined.  Therefore, it is in your best interest to have an attorney look over any documents before you sign them to ensure it is in your best interest to sign them.   Another thing you should be aware of if your home or farm is in a mineral rich area is whether or not a former owner signed an agreement with a royalty company.  If it was not specified when you purchased the land or the home, you may want to do a deed search.  Mineral royalty companies often sign deals for the future excavation of the property and may not start immediately.  If the contract was signed before you took ownership, there may not be much you can do as long as the mineral owner abides by the laws and the original agreement.  These records are public documents and can be found in most government offices as well as online.  Be aware that these records are kept separate from real estate transactions.   Do not be enamored by the money being offered.  As with any legal agreement, it is best to contact an attorney and financial advisor to ensure that you are doing the right thing for you and your family before you sign anything.

Different types of custom windows

Whether you are replacing your old windows or building a new home with new windows, there are many options to choose from.  However, before you begin to choose, it is best to have a professional come out and measure.  This will ensure that your windows are the right size and are therefore easy to install and as energy efficient as possible.  In addition, before you pick out your custom windows, you need to find out what the current building codes are for your area as these will affect the choices that are available to you.  For example, if you live in an area that is susceptible to hurricanes, you may be required to purchase windows with impact resistant glass. One of the decisions that you will have to make is whether or not to replace the frame and if the frame does need to be replaced whether to replace it with wood, vinyl or aluminum.  Wood is the most expensive.  However, it also has the most choices when it comes to types, finishes, and hardware.  You can choose from pine, oak, or maple, just to name a few and then you have to decide if you want it stained or painted.   Vinyl is the least expensive.  However, it is usually white and there is little difference between vinyl and wood when it comes to casement windows.  Unlike vinyl, fiberglass can be painted.  However, since it is relatively new there are not many choices available.  The same is true of aluminum.  There are not many choices as popularity has decreased.   Another choice you have to make when it comes to selecting custom windows is if and how they will open.  Double hung is the most popular.  The top slides down and the bottom slides up.  They are easy to clean and if you are using a window air conditioner, double hung window windows are your best bet.  In addition, they are good at keeping out cold air and water.  They also provide excellent ventilation.  A less expensive option in custom windows is single hung windows.  They look like double hung, but the top does not open.   Casement windows allow for an unobstructed view and good insulation and ventilation.  They will not hold air conditioners like single and double hung windows.  Neither awning style, nor hopper style windows will hold air conditioners, either.  However, you can keep an awning style window open in the rain.   Another decision you have to make when selecting custom windows is whether or not to have a Low-E coating placed on them.  Low-e makes the windows deflect heat when placed on the outside of the window in warmer climates and keeps heat in when placed on the inside of the window in cooler climates.  However, it may reduce visibility.   Be aware that custom windows usually take longer to make than standard windows and are usually more expensive.  This is due to the fact that they are not mass produced and the machines have to be changed to your specifications before they can be made.

What you should know if your dentist suggests a dental crown

A dental crown is a synthetic material that is used to cover a tooth.  It can be made from metal, porcelain fused to metal, all resin, or all porcelain/ceramic. There are a number of reasons why your dentist may suggest that you get a dental crown placed on a tooth in your mouth.   Regardless of the material from which it is made, a dental crown is always made outside of your dentist’s office.  That is why they are so expensive.  The dentist will make an impression of your bite and then send it out so that the crown can be made to the exact fit of your mouth.  Therefore, getting a crown is a two visit procedure.   Metal crowns hold up the longest but are not the most attractive option.  Therefore, many people opt for porcelain fused to metal, however, many times the metal can be seen at the bottom.  Porcelain and ceramic crowns look nice but are not as strong as those that contain metal and resin is the cheapest and least durable option available. You are a candidate for a dental crown when you have a tooth that needs or has a large filling.  The dental crown will help to strengthen the tooth being filled.  Root canals also often end up causing people to need dental crowns because the tooth is dead and needs to be protected in order to prevent cracking or chipping.   Another reason your dentist may suggest the need for a dental crown is due to the fact that you suffer from cracked tooth syndrome.  This is a condition where chewing causes fractures on the inside of the tooth.  A crown redistributes the stress caused by chewing and, therefore, eliminates the pain that accompanies it.   Broken cusps as well as excessive wear on the teeth can also be causes that lead to the need for a dental crown.  In addition, some people get dental crowns as part of cosmetic dentistry to make their mouth look better.  Dental crowns are also often placed on top of implanted teeth in order to restore space from missing teeth.   If your dentist suggests that you need a dental crown you will be given a local anesthetic in the area where the crown is needed.  He or she will then perform the root canal or any other procedure that is necessary before you are fitted for the crown.  Once that is complete, your tooth will be shaved down to make room for the crown.  The dentist will then take an impression of the affected teeth as well as a picture so that the crown matches the rest of your mouth.   You will then be fitted with a temporary crown and will need to return in a few weeks when the permanent crown is ready.  Upon your return, you will be given another shot of local anesthesia and the permanent dental crown will be placed in your mouth.   If you are suffering from pain in your mouth, it is best to see a dentist or an emergency dentist as soon as possible so that you can get relief and help to fix the problem.

Other websites you should have a presence on include Twitter, Foursquare, Instagram, and Pinterest.  All of these allow you to not only interact with customers and potential customers, but also allow you to post pertinent information in order to attract and keep a following.  Furthermore, most of it is free.  Twitter is similar to Facebook, except you only have 140 characters to work with.  Foursquare lets customers inform their followers where they are by checking in at each place they go to.  Both Instagram and Pinterest are photo sharing sites.   Another way to increase business through spa marketing is to offer a referral program so that both the person giving the referral and the new client get discounts.  You can also hold specialty events for people in specific industries.  Go to a school on Teacher Appreciation Day or set up a small area in the employees lounge at the airport or hospital.   Finally, there is always old school mailings and newspaper ads.  This way, those that are not on social media or are not internet savvy remain informed about what your spa offers, as well as any deals or packages you are currently running.   Regardless of how you choose to do your spa marketing, once you get the customers in the door, be sure to keep them coming back not only with good deals, but with excellent service, as well.  After all, if what you are selling is sub-standard, no one will want it no matter how much you discount it.  There is no substitute for good service.

Carpet care web design ideas

You went through the expense of direct mailing a flier to the community where your carpet cleaning business is located.  You also posted the flier on both Facebook and Twitter and left copies at your friend’s real estate office.  Located at the bottom of the flier, along with your address and phone number was your website which you know is in desperate need of an update and change, you just are not sure where to start.   When it comes to carpet care web design, you should begin with a home page that includes a snappy slogan and an indirect message about how much better your clients’ lives are now that they have had their carpet’s cleaned.  It could include feeling like royalty or the ability to have a big party because the carpets are clean and stain free. There should be several tabs at the top of the home page that bring people to the other pages one of which should include pertinent information such as services offered and prices.  This page should also include a special deal or coupon for a free room or deodorizer as people love free stuff.   Another part of your carpet care web design is a page or place that includes pictures and blurbs on you and your employees.  This way, your potential clients will know who to expect at the door after they make an appointment on another part of your web page.   Other ideas when it comes to carpet care web design include an area where interested parties can sign up to receive a newsletter and a place where loyal clients can get discounts for referrals and for using your services a certain number of times.  You can also offer incentives in order to get people to review your business both on your website and on social media.   Finally, no website would be complete without a blog.  A blog allows you to educate your clients and potential clients.  It also enables you to get more people to view your site and possibly use your services.  This is because if you supply good information, it will be shared with others.   The more shares, the more views, the higher up your company goes on the search engine results.  The higher up you go on the search engine results, the more people will find you when they look for carpet care companies.  They will then click on and peruse your site and hopefully make an appointment and share your blog.   Two important factors to keep in mind when it comes to carpet care web design.  The first is that surveys have found that people tend to focus their attention on the left side of the screen.  Therefore, this is a good place for forms and links.  The second factor to keep in mind is that when it comes to search engine results, most people only look at the first three results and very few people go beyond the first page that comes back.

Latest innovations in roofing materials

If you are in the market for a new roof, either because your old one needs to be replaced or because you are building a new home, there are plenty of options to consider.  However, do not forget to take into account your budget, the style of the home where the roof will be placed, and the climate of the area wherein the house has been or will be built.
  • Asphalt shingles. Asphalt shingles are the most popular roofing  This is due to the fact that they are easy to install, relatively cheap to make and available pretty much everywhere.  In addition, they come in a wide variety of colors and styles so homeowners can find one that complements their home, regardless of its style.  A roof made of asphalt shingles has been known to last over 30 years.
  • Wood shingles and shakes. Wood shingles and shakes are popular roofing materials with people who want their home to have a historical look.  Wood shingles are machine cut and tapered in order to give the home they are on a crisp look.  Wood shakes are hand cut, making them give the house a more rustic look.
  • Slate may be costly to install through your roofing contractor, but it is worth it, because once it is on, it requires very little maintenance or upkeep.  Furthermore, it will not burn, is completely waterproof, and comes in a variety of colors.  It has a look like no other.

It is best to ask your roofing contractor what would work best to keep your home safe while still looking good.  Also, remember to get recommendations, referrals and license numbers from the company you plan to hire to install your new roof.  This will ensure that the work is done well and is up to code.

Procedure for getting braces

If you have been referred to an orthodontist because the time has come to get braces to fix a malocclusion, there are a number of steps that will be taken before, during, and after they are placed in your mouth.   The first thing that will happen will be the initial consultation.  This is usually free and includes the doctor looking at x-rays of your mouth and teeth.  He or she will determine what work is necessary to fix your problems and give you some options and prices.  This is the time for you to ask any questions you may have. Next, you need to have any preliminary work taken care of.  This includes going to your regular dentist for a cleaning, having any teeth that need to be removed taken out and, if desired, having your teeth whitened.  In addition, it is best to have any periodontal or endodontic work done prior to having your braces put on.   During your first official visit, the orthodontist will take a variety of x-rays and pictures.  He or she will have a panoramic x-ray of your mouth taken, as well as a full set of x-rays of individual teeth.  In addition, the doctor will also take pictures of your face, teeth, and mouth.  The orthodontist will also take a mold of your mouth and if the space between any of your teeth is tight, he or she will insert rubber or metal spacers in order to prepare your mouth for braces.   At your second visit, the brackets will be positioned on your teeth.  This is done by first drying your teeth and then applying etchant to them in order to prep them for the special cement to hold the brackets in place.  The brackets are then placed on your teeth and high-intensity plasma light is used to set the bond.  The wire is then placed through the brackets and little rubber bands are placed on the brackets.  Each row of teeth takes approximately an hour for the procedure to be complete.   Afterward, your teeth may feel sore and it is best to eat soft foods and liquids for a day or so until the pain subsides.  You may also take over the counter pain relievers to decrease the pain.  In addition, your lips, cheeks, and tongue may become irritated until they grow scar tissue and become accustomed to the braces.  You can use dental wax to ease the pain.   You will need to return every four to six weeks in order to have the wire tightened.  At that time, the old wire and rubber bands will be removed.  You will then brush and floss your teeth before a new wire and rubber bands are attached.  You may need to take an over the counter pain reliever for a day or two following the follow-up appointments.   When it is time to have your braces removed, the orthodontist will use special pliers to get the brackets off and a special machine to get the glue off your teeth.  You will probably have to wear a retainer in order to ensure that your teeth do not shift.

What to Look for When Purchasing Engagement Rings

If your dream proposal is about to become a reality, then it is time to look at engagement rings.  In order to find the right one, there are a number of things that you need to know, besides her ring size.  You also need to know what her jewelry preferences are and where to pop the question and give her the ring.

First and foremost, when it comes to engagement rings, your best bet is to recruit those that are close to her.  Ask her friends and family if she has been dropping any hints or if there is a specific type of metal she prefers her jewelry to be made out of.  In addition, you can also ask, if you do not already know, how flashy the ring needs to be.  While you hope she will show it off everywhere she goes, it may be difficult if she works with her hands to sport a large rock.

Once you have an idea of what she likes in the way of engagement rings and what she can live with, you need to ensure that you have enough saved up.  Your best bet is to expect to spend up to two month’s salary.  If this is not what you had budgeted, then either hold off or expect to trade up when you can afford to do so.  You can also choose gold over platinum or a smaller stone with fewer carats.

While platinum is stronger than gold, many people prefer it because it is the traditional metal for most jewelry, including engagement rings to be made out of.  Furthermore, while carats dominate how diamonds are priced, the cut, color and clarity of the stone also come into play.  The more elaborate the setting, the less perfect the stone needs to be.  Therefore, you can choose a diamond that has flaws that only show up under a microscope or one that is not as colorless or white as it could be.

Once you have narrowed it down to three or four stones, ask to see them in the setting you selected or had made and see how it looks.  This is the best way to see which diamond is the right one for the ring after you have taken into account color, cut, clarity and carats.

Another question that you need to know the answer to before heading out to look at engagement rings is whether or not the two of you will have matching wedding bands and whether or not she plans to wear her band with her ring.  If she plans on wearing both rings together on the same hand, then you need to find an engagement ring that will complement your wedding band.  In addition, since you will probably wear matching wedding bands, you need to find something that you like, as well.

Regardless of what ring and stone you select, if she loves you as much as you love her, she is sure to say yes without hesitation.  Good luck.
